Kathleen’s Path in Reiki
Kathleen’s journey into the world of energy healing began in 1983, when she took the first two levels of Reiki in Wisconsin. These courses allowed her to hone her natural healing skills, but did not increase her innate energy level.
In 1988, after two car accidents, Kathleen was guided to complete a Reiki mastery course in Michigan with Margarette Shelton. This course was part of Takata’s original Alliance Reiki system, transmitted through a chain of masters.
The Revelation Experience
The turning point occurred in February 1991. During a profound expanded consciousness experience, Kathleen encountered a Higher Being whom she identified as Buddha. In this spiritual experience, Buddha built on Kathleen’s innate healing energies, adding the original Alliance Reiki initiations, but with significant modifications.
Buddha emphasized the importance of keeping these initiations standardized and not mixing them with other systems. This approach guaranteed the purity and potency of energy transfer.
The Birth of the Tera Mai™
From this experience Tera Mai™ was born. The name itself, where “Tera” refers to Earth and “Mai” means “light” in Japanese, reflects the union of earthly and celestial energies.
Kathleen began teaching this new system, emphasizing practices such as breathing exercises and verbal invocation of higher energies at the beginning of classes. These changes led to deeper spiritual experiences for her students.
The Evolution: Incorporation of Seichem
In June 1991, Kathleen exchanged initiations with August Starr, receiving Seichem initiations. However, feeling that this energy was unstable, she received spiritual guidance to stabilize it. Buddha gave her Sakara (fire), Sophi-El (water) and Angeliclight (air) initiations, integrating these elements into the Tera Mai system.
Further Developments
In later spiritual experiences, Buddha added additional colors and symbols to the Tera Mai Reiki initiations. He also established that Tera Mai Seichem initiations would convey both Tera Mai Reiki energies and the first levels of Sakara, Sophi-El and Angeliclight.
A System in Continuous Evolution

- Cosmic Gold Tera Mai™ Reiki (2014): Buddha added cosmic energies to Tera Mai™ Reiki.
- Golden Tera Mai™ Reiki (2015): Introduction of energies manifesting as “Golden Bubbles,” bringing in a large amount of elemental earth energy.
- Tera Mai™ Akasha Seichem (2016): Adding the element Ether to the Tera Mai™ Seichem, completing the system with the 5 elements.
- Tera Mai™ 7 Holy Flames (2016): In addition to the Violet Flame, 6 other Flames were added: White, Gold, Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green, Pink, and Ruby Red.
- Diamond Harth (24 December2016): Elevation of Golden Harth to Diamond Harth, enhancing the entire Tera Mai™ system.
- The Heavenly Light / The Circle of Light (late December 2016): Introduction of purest diamond-white energy that further enhances the system.
- Reintroduction of Original Symbols (22 January 2017): Buddha reintroduced the double SEY HEY KEY and the RAKU symbol in the second initiation of Tera Mai™ Reiki and Seichem, elements that had been removed by Takata.
